Salve Regina University's BSN-DNP program offers two specialization tracks: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Both tracks align to adhere to the master's-level advanced practice preparation with the advanced level Doctor of Nursing Practice courses, so you graduate eligible to sit for national certification in your chosen specialty and credentialed at the highest level of clinical nursing practice.

FNP Competency
You will earn your Doctor of Nursing Practice in the FNP track by completing 72 credits and a minimum of 1,000 hours of precepted clinical work — at least 750 hours completed as direct, supervised patient care hours within the FNP coursework, split across three clinical courses and experiential DNP practice hours.  The FNP curriculum prepares you to deliver advanced primary care across the lifespan, with coursework in advanced physiology and pathophysiology, comprehensive care for women and children, global influences in advanced care management, pharmacologic principles, and three sequential Advanced Practice Nurse Role applications. A minimum of 69 credits must be taken at Salve Regina University to obtain your doctoral degree; up to 9 master's-level credits may transfer in, and all 30 DNP credits must be completed at Salve.

I enjoyed the asynchronous portion [of NURS 662] because it allowed me time to connect with the professor and my peers.
